CHANGES TO INCOME TAX RULES FOR 2012/2013

From 2012 people paying tax in the UK, but living in Greece#, will be required to complete a RESIDENT CERTIFICATE issued by the UK tax office. This form needs to be completed (and sent to your accountant) before April 2013, in order to file correctly for the year 2012. ’

Even if you have very little Greek income, it seems this form needs to be completed, or you will be taxed in Greece on your Global income, as a permanent resident of Greece. ie all your income will be assumed to be Greek unless you can prove otherwise! It appears that the Greek Government is now assuming that anyone with a house in Greece is a permanent resident!

Yeah I looked at the online site for obtaining a cert. of residency for the UK. Think they have taken lessons from the Greeks... So full of ambiguity !

I had no problem in getting ours SD..Took about four weeks....

I had a mail from the accountant this morning about this. As G said it can all be done on line. I'm a little confused about how much I'm claiming. Does Mrs Rover need one as well and how much money should I declare i.e. just the notional amount stuff or the total amount of my income. You are right SD the forms are so ambiguous. As I understand it even if you you earn absolutely zilch in Greece you still have to submit a form. I think I'm right in saying you need two copies, or am I dreaming. Did you get yours back via email G. Apparently I'm due a refund this year as it was decided the pink (blue) slip thing was not required after all for 2011. I've already been told I can collect this from the B of G in December providing the country doesn't go bosom's up. But you have to collect it personally.
