    Hello Everyone,

I have a friend here in the states that has decided she wants to get married in Greece. She plans on having just a small, private ceremony with her hubby-to-be, somewhere scenic and romantic. They are not Orthodox, so they also need to find someone who would perform the ceremony. She is not sure when they would like to go, so that makes it harder to suggest locales, although the first thing that came to my mind was Santorini, (I know, how cliche!) I’ve traveled to a couple of islands and different regions around Greece, but I don’t know the country as extensively as some of you probably do. Plus, I did not spend my time traveling with a significant other, (well, not with one in particular 😉 ) So I thought those of you who have traveled around with a lover, or just traveled around a lot, could give me some great suggestions, I’d really appreciate it!

There seems to be a steady stream of brits who tie the knot at the Bourtzi (Town hall on the harbour island) in Skiathos.

I think Santorini is a good choice but it would have to be a bit out of season for me, too touristy now in the height of summer! I also loved Tinos and found it very romantic but maybe a bit religious, with all its churches. Your friend will find it difficult to arrange a wedding on any of the smaller islands so better to stick to main ones, especially if it isnt going to be orthodox.

I think definitely Santorini – and I’ve been practically everywhere in Greece. I think it’s the most romantic spot. There are many beautiful, amazing spots in Greece for a wedding, but I think nothing compares to the beauty and uniqueness of Santorini.

Tell your friends to check out this website:

I would also say Santorini, but thats cos i got married there this last summer, we had a fab time. we went 3rd week in June so it wouldnt be to busy or too hot. Brilliant setting for a romantic wedding!

I would plump for St Pauls bay in Lindos (Rhodes) it’s a fab place little chapel right on the beach, getting more & more popular every year 😀

Got to agree with the above. Lindos in general is a very pretty, romantic place to visit. We went to Santorini for the first time last year, and although it made a pleasent change, I still thought Lindos to be much nicer and considerably cheaper. !2 euros for a cocktail just because there was a view of the sunset was a hell of a shock.

My friends were married at Monemvassia on the mainland. I went there last April and although very pretty there were loads of tourists arriving by the coachload.

Yeah, Monemvasia came to my mind as well. The two times I’ve gone, (late october and early april) it was pretty quiet, but I don’t know whether or not they will want to go somewhere that has a little more going on around it. Thank you for all the suggestions and especially for the weblinks, they are a great resource to take advantage of!

There’s a company who organise weddings in Crete

I haven’t used them but they seem to organise everything for you and the venues seem to be away from the tourist crowds.

We just got married in St Paul’s, Lindos. I love it there. We saw the chapel a few years ago and thought it would be perfect. We used

Karen and Laurence who run it are fab.

In our humble opinion, Crete has a great variety of romantic places.

Have a look at venues our customers chose for their most important moment: http://www.glamevents.gr/wedding-venues-in-Chania-gallery

If you’re really into getting married in Greece, Crete is the place :))

Have a look here too: http://www.glamevents.gr/weddings-in-Crete for some good reasons!
